E' la seconda medaglia d'oro per l'Italia dopo quella conquistata da Nicol\u00f2 Martinenghi nei 100 rana. In totale, il medagliere azzurro comprende 2 ori, 2 argenti e 3 bronzi.\u00a0Ceccon, terzo a met\u00e0 gara, cambia marcia nella seconda vasca e trionfa con l'accelerazione strepitosa negli ultimi 25 metri.
